Ariel is a singer, songwriter, and musician. Born in Vancouver, raised in Saskatoon, and at home on anything soulful, Ariel has a voice that is sweet, refined, and timeless. Her sound feels both familiar and new - like imminent nostalgia.

 

Ariel released her debut solo single First on June 18th with the album Libra to follow on July 9, 2021. Libra is an eight-track album written and recorded in her Saskatoon home, produced in Los Angeles by KYREKYREKYRE, and mixed and mastered in Toronto by Anthony Kalabretta. Ariel’s sweet and soulful vocals are on full display throughout the album, riding over sticky, ethereal, and hypnotic production. Erykah Badu, Pharrell Williams, and Solange influenced the project  which is a refreshingly unique blend of 90’s inspired R&B, soul, and pop.

 

Ariel's early music memories revolve around her mother’s eclectic music collection of Stevie Wonder, Carol King, Faith Evans, A Tribe Called Quest, and more. Ariel’s love of song writing, vocal arrangements, and chord progressions are heavily influenced by these artists. As a teenager, she produced her own music by sampling 60’s and 70’s soul records and writing and recording songs over the instrumentals. Since then, she has been busy collaborating with artists across North America and developing her own sound.

 

Ariel is the vocalist and songwriter for Ariel & Sean alongside producer, DJ, and Red Bull 3Style champion Charly Hustle. The R&B/soul duo has toured Western Canada, opening for Houston’s The Suffers in 2019 at the Sasktel Jazz Festival.  Ariel & Sean’s song Honey has been featured on CBC Radio One. This year, Ariel joined forces with artists/producers MosEL (Detroit) and Quelle Chris (New York City) on RAY: Rise Above Yourself. Ariel’s vocals, writing, and arrangements are laced throughout the project. The song Paz Y Amor earned a spot on Bandcamp Weekly. With the release of Libra, Ariel plans to keep collaborating with her favourite artists and pave her way in R&B.
